Visual Instructor

TAYLOR SMITH is an educator, performer, drill designer, and student in the Southern California region, and lived in Rancho Cucamonga for most of his life. He graduated from Los Osos High School in 2008, and attended Riverside Community College, where he earned his Associates Degree in Human and Behavioral Sciences.

While at RCC, Taylor played trombone with world famous RCC Marching Tigers and was the featured soloist in the 2009 show. He traveled to the Bands Of America Grand National Championships as a performer with RCC in 2008 and 2010. Taylor performed with the Blue Devils in 2010 and 2011. In that final season, he placed second in the Individual & Ensemble Competition for trombone.

After aging-out of drum corps, Taylor accepted a position at Colony High School in the visual caption, and taught there until 2014. In 2012, he was brought as a visual instructor for Pacific Crest. He then taught music and visual for Blue Devils B (2013) and served as visual instructor for The Blue Stars in 2014 and 2015.

Taylor graduated from California State University, Long Beach, in 2015 with a Bachelors Degree in Jazz Performance and Music Education. He looks forward to earning his teaching credential and becoming a high school band director.

A resident of Long Beach, California, he teaches music at Chino Hills High School and Los Alamitos High School, as well as several middle schools in Orange County, California.
