Drum Corps Manager and Front Ensemble Coordinator
GABRIEL COBAS has been the Front Ensemble Supervisor with Pacific Crest since 2012 and also serves as the Corps Manager. He studied with Todd Miller, Principal Timpanist of the Pacific Symphony Orchestra, at Cal State Fullerton and Music Technology at Berklee College of Music in Boston, MA. He is also an alum of the Velvet Knights and Blue Devils Drum and Bugle Corps.
Gabriel maintains an active schedule teaching, composing, and arranging throughout Southern California and New England. He has served as percussion instructor Etiwanda High School, Vista High School, Roland Hayes School of Music (Boston, MA), Riverside Community College and Boston University. Prior to his return to California, Gabriel worked for the Boston Symphony and Boston Pops Orchestra as Manager of Education Programs.
Currently, he serves as percussion instructor at El Dorado High School and South Pointe Middle School. Gabriel’s students have won numerous auditions including Boston Symphony Orchestra’s Concerto Competition, All-Southern (California), All-State (California), All-State (Massachusetts), and Boston University Tanglewood Institute.
In addition to percussion, Gabriel is an expert in music technology, having released a book entitled “Mastering Sibelius 6,” published by Cengage Technology available in hard copy, iBook and Kindle formats. He has presented numerous clinics on percussion and music technology throughout the Country.
