LUCAS CRITCHFIELD is a music educator and percussionist living in Pomona, California. He has been working with the Pacific Crest drumline since 2008 and teaches in Claremont. Lucas is a sought-after drummer in the L.A. reggae scene, and plays R&B, classic rock, blues, folk and classical percussion. Lucas also plays marimba with his latin group–Marimba Tropical, which features traditional tunes from Chiapas, Mexico and Guatemala.
Prior to moving to California, Lucas was the head band director at Albuquerque High School from 1999-2002, Del Norte HS (2004-2008), and several middle schools. Lucas earned his Bachelor of Music Education at the University of New Mexico and a Master of Music from New Mexico State University. He served as the principal percussionist for the Las Cruces Symphony Orchestra for two seasons.
Lucas’s drum corps experience includes three years with the Troopers and two years with Santa Clara Vanguard, all on tenor drums. He aged out in 1994.
